So as I’ve mentioned a couple times, I’ve been working as Sous-chef for just under two weeks in a restaurant in Port Alberni, BC. It has a bit of a history, and a bit of a reputation, but we were confident as long as we kept the food quality high, after a while people would start coming around again. However, on the night of May 17th, the owner called the chef and informed him there simply wasn’t enough money to keep the restaurant open. It was very suspicious and very abrupt. Twelve people lost their jobs with no warning at all. Some staff members weren’t even informed by the owner, and showed up for work the next day.
It was all very suspicious, especially when we found out that cooks had been hired to come work on May 22nd, to execute the menu we had built, and the owners have changed the reason from there not being enough money, to claiming that we were too hard to work with and not open to suggestion (The owner was never there as he lived in Vancouver, and the General manager rarely approached us for anything.) I find this all odd because we were scheduled for a meeting to discuss more of what the owner wanted before he pulled the plug. It’s all really left me with a bad taste in my mouth, and I feel like working 130+ hours for ten straight days at a time has just kind of been a big waste of time. I hate seeing small business owners do poorly, but I hope that fucking piece of shit gets what’s coming to him, not because I lost my job, but because there were many more who were depending on that job, and lost it without any notice or any real reason why.
So, after all that, last night, Red dislocated her knee during a show, and I’ve been helping her out as much as I possibly can. I feel super bad for everything that’s happened, but hell, I’m unemployed now, so I can update like a boss.

*The reason why Matt didn’t post yesterday was because we found out this Thursday May 17th and we got really shitfaced and was hungover all day Friday.
*Then I had a burlesque show out of town and dislocated my knee cap and Matt took care of me all night and all day today.
*He is almost finished a make-up comic and I feel it’s going to blow your mind-hole.
